Mask

A frequently misunderstood comparison. A panel appears to cover the most, and in raw emitting area it usually does — but coverage that reaches skin is what counts, and that depends on distance and on what is in between.

Panel
Sunday, twenty minutes, because that was the day someone remembered. Setting up the stand takes two minutes, the distance is roughly what it was last time, and the session competes with everything else in the evening because it requires going somewhere and staying still. Total: one session, and a growing sense that the purchase was a mistake.
That last paragraph is uncharitable and it is also the most common outcome we hear about for panels bought as first devices. The format is not bad; it is demanding, and demanding formats need a habit already in place.
Combinations that make sense
- Mask plus belt. The most common two-device household: face in the bathroom, body on the sofa. Two areas, two triggers, no overlap.
- Belt plus shaped joint wrap. If you have a specific joint as well as the torso.
- Pad plus anything. The pad becomes the travel device.
- Lamp as a second device, never a first. Once you know you will use a routine, a lamp covers what worn devices cannot reach.
